Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why are we opposed to the Masjid?

We have no issue with a Masjid per say. Our concerns are the suitability of the site to support the volume of people attending and the facilities needed to allow safe passage without impact to the residence and all persons who use Glenhaven Rd.

Our concerns are that:-

  • the site is not suitable for a 24/7 commercial operation.
  • there will be an increased safety risk to local residents due to a massive increase in traffic.
  • there will be an increased safety risk to road users on Glenhaven Road due to a massive increase in traffic.
  • there will be unacceptable delays to traffic flows due to massive increase in traffic.
  • there will be unacceptable increase in noise that such a facility will generate in a residential area.

  • Do you support the widening of Glenhaven Rd?

Yes, we are not here to stand in the way of progress. We trust council will ensure the entry and exit points of Glenhaven Rd are taken into consideration.

Do you support the proposed traffic lights at the intersection of Glenhaven and Old Northern Rd?

Yes, anyone who is a regular user of Glenhaven Rd should support the installation of traffic lights at this intersection. It is a dangerous intersection and there are frequent accidents. Installation of traffic lights will make a great improvement to the traffic flow and safety for all.

Do you support the proposed sporting fields at the top of Glenhaven Rd?

At present, without traffic lights at the intersection of Glenhaven and Old Northern Rd, this would create further issues due to the increased volumes of traffic. We trust the RMS and council consider not just the proposed sporting fields but the safety, off street parking, volume of cars, as well as consideration to surrounding residence when planning for community improvements.
